PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Ghana’s former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who died on 23 October 2025 at the age of 76. Agyeman-Rawlings was the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
In her message of condolence, President Nandi-Ndaitwah described Agyeman-Rawlings as a remarkable leader who played a prominent role in Ghanaian politics and social advocacy, particularly in championing women’s rights and empowerment.
“Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings will be remembered for her dedication to advancing gender equality and community development. Through initiatives such as the 31 December Women’s Movement, she empowered women across Ghana by promoting entrepreneurship, education, and participation in political life,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
The President extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Namibia to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved family, and the people of Ghana.
“Namibia stands in solidarity with the people and government of Ghana during this time of mourning. May the soul of Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings rest in eternal peace,” she said.
