Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland State of Somalia President Said Abdullahi Deni today delivered a speech before the Puntland Parliament. The President stated that more than 2,000 foreign terrorists had been holed up in Calmiskaad. “Only a fraction of the Daesh terrorists are still hiding in Calmiskaad,” President Deni said.
Puntland State of Somalia launched an anti-Daesh counterterrorism operation ten months ago in the rugged and treacherous Calmiskaad mountain range. Daesh militants employed booby traps, ambushes and other tactics while fleeing their hideouts.
The President said that Operation Hillaac would be concluded soon. President Deni also commended the international community for its support of Puntland’s counterterrorism operations against Daesh.
