THE Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has announced that the Outapi Water Treatment Plant is currently out of operation due to damage caused to two pipelines by a contractor working on the new plant site, resulting in water shortages in the area.
Lott Ndamanomhata said that during trench excavation, the contractor damaged both the 250mm Ondukuta pipeline and the 300mm old raw water pipeline.
“As a result, water supply to Outapi and surrounding areas has been temporarily interrupted. NamWater’s civil maintenance team is on site attending to the repairs, which are expected to take approximately six hours to complete,” Ndamanomhata said.
