NAMIBIA is among three African countries participating in the Young Officers’ Course for newly commissioned Army Air Defence (AAD) officers, which officially commenced at the Army Air Defence College (AADC) in Gopalpur, India.
The six-month training programme includes officers from Cameroon, Malawi, and Namibia, alongside their Indian counterparts. The course aims to mentor and shape young officers for professional excellence and leadership in air defence operations.
The training forms part of India’s broader initiative to strengthen international military cooperation and enhance the capabilities of friendly foreign nations.
The programme is conducted under the Indian Army’s Army Training Command (ARTRAC), which was established on 1 October 1991 to oversee the formulation and implementation of training requirements within the Indian Army. ARTRAC, headquartered in Shimla since 1993, serves as the lead training organisation of the Indian Army and plays a central role in developing policies and guidelines to address both current and future operational challenges.
