𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 —President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed on Tuesday by Governor Louis Lobong Lojore on the situation in Eastern Equatoria State as part of a wider security briefing.
Governor Lobong, in his report to the meeting, reported that the state is peaceful after last month’s outbreak of violence in the Kapoeta town where the criminals had fired at a government office. He reassured the President that the situation has normalised since then.
The people of Eastern Equatoria all condemned the attack and have vowed to stop such acts of lawlessness from occurring again,” Lobong stated. “The people are coming together now to maintain peace and assist with stability in the region”.
Governor Lobong also reported to the President about the daily influx of South Sudanese returnees who are returning from Kakuma refugee camp in neighbouring Kenya. He called on the national government to assist in facilitating the safe and orderly return of the returnees to their respective home areas.
President Kiir commended the people of Eastern Equatoria for their commitment to peace, hard work and resilience.
