Hol youth in Buothagany repelled a coordinated attack by armed youth from Twic East County early this morning, according to a statement from the office of spokesperson Maduk Mahol, released to The Juba Mirror News Desk, Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.
The assault began around 3:50 a.m., when Twic East forces reportedly launched simultaneous attacks across multiple fronts in Buothagany and nearby islands. Hol youth, identified as Duke II, fought back and successfully pushed the attackers toward Panhom, Kuai Paluahat and surrounding areas, the statement said.
“The brave Hol youth demonstrated courage and resilience,” Mahol said, noting that they were pursuing the attackers to ensure the safety and security of Toich.
The spokesperson alleged the assault followed recent public remarks by Twic East Youth Association Chairman Deng Kuir Bul and Dr. Majak De Agoot, who had called for Twic East youth to unite and expel the Hol community from Buothagany.
Mahol added that Deng Junior reportedly traveled to Panyagoor this morning, expecting Twic East to claim victory in Buothagany.
The situation remains tense, with sporadic fighting still reported in the area. Mahol said Hol youth are committed to providing verified updates as more information becomes available.
