Central Equatoria State Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel has briefed President Salva Kiir on the general situation in the state, highlighting that the overall security condition remains stable.
In recent months, government and opposition forces clashed in Morobo and Yei River counties, resulting in mass civilian displacements.
Several incidents involving road ambushes on vehicles along major roads in Yei and Morobo counties.
In a Thursday post on the official page of the Office of the President, Governor Mujung acknowledged that while there are isolated incidents, particularly in Greater Yei, where opposition forces maintain a presence, the broader security environment is calm and under control.
He commended the national government for its continued efforts in addressing the border-related concerns in Kajokeji County, adding that these interventions have contributed significantly to stability.
As part of the state’s peace-building efforts, the Governor announced that his administration recently organized a major peace and reconciliation forum in Terekeka.
The forum aimed to promote peaceful coexistence and strengthen harmony among communities within the state.
