A three-year-old girl has died after she allegedly fell into a hole filled with sewage water in Keetmanshoop.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the incident of unnatural death occurred at about 16:17 at /Gereres Resettlement Area, Tseiblaagte.
It is alleged that the three-year-old victim was playing with a neighbour’s child near a construction site when she fell into one of the pools filled with wastewater from nearby overflowing sewage drains.
The mother, who was busy with household chores, was alerted to the incident by her neighbour, who retrieved the child from the sewage water. She rushed the victim by taxi to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital for treatment, but the child was declared dead on arrival by a registered nurse.
The next of kin have been informed, and police investigations into the matter continue.
