It seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. North West, daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, recently found herself making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The 12-year-old was at the centre of a heated discussion about her appearance after sporting fake face tattoos, a nose piercing, blue contact lenses and grillz (removable metal dental jewellery) while attending a OsamaSon concert with friends.

In one photo, the preteen is seen wearing a black graphic T-shirt with matching shorts, accessorised with chunky silver necklaces and long blue braids. Another image captures her and her friends sporting a similar look with different coloured braids backstage at the concert venue.
She also posted a video with her friends mimicking a popular TikTok sound alongside the caption, “Preparing for antagonist.”
Social media quickly lit up with users expressing concern about the appropriateness of the styling choices for someone so young.
“She can have a style, but this style looks ridiculously grown and not cute for a 12-year-old. Would you want your daughter walking around like this?!” one user commented.
“What in the Kanye West is happening?” another quipped, while someone else added, “This is just sad. She’s growing up a little too fast.”

Her posts come a week after her mother, Kim (45), appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she opened up about the unfair scrutiny North faces compared to other children her age.
“It’s really hard and interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things. But then my daughter tries to wear it and I’m like, ‘OK we’re never wearing that again,‘” she told host Alex Cooper.
Although Kim admitted to making mistakes by allowing North to wear certain outfits that attracted unwanted attention, she says she will always support her daughter’s bold fashion choices.
“I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is.’ It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her.”
This is not the first time North West has faced backlash for her outfits.
In September, North was spotted wearing a cleavage-bearing corset while on vacation in Rome, Italy with her mom, paired with blue pigtails and glasses – an outfit that left many unimpressed.

Kim has asked people to be more sympathetic. “I just think anyone that’s raising kids, especially four kids, I’m doing the best that I can and my babies are good babies,” she said.
“So, I just urge everyone to not be judgmental and to have grace on single mums trying to figure it all out with a pre-teen. It’s a lot.”

Kim also noted that North isn’t bothered by the criticism. “She’s really mature in one sense, where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care if someone says they don’t like my blue hair or my this or that.‘”
For now, it seems North West will continue doing exactly what she wants – critics be damned.
