Kindiki Blasts Gachagua for ‘Primitive Bigotry’ Against Waiguru and Mbarire

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has launched a sharp attack on his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of intimidating Governors Anne Waiguru and Cecily Mbarire,
In a strongly worded statement, Kindiki lauded the two governors as outstanding leaders who have brought honor to the country through their achievements in public service and politics.
“Governors Anne Waiguru and Cecily Mbarire have done our country proud as exemplary and successful political leaders,” he said. “The two have variously held senior positions in public administration and politics, outpacing the naive, arrogant novices trying to bully them into submission.”
The Deputy President condemned those attacking the two leaders, describing their behavior as backward and counterproductive. He cautioned that such political maneuvers are bound to fail.
“This primitive, prideful and know-it-all political bigotry and misadventure will collapse on its head: it is a matter of time,” he said.
Kindiki urged a transformation in Kenya’s political culture, advocating for dialogue, mutual respect, and issue-based politics instead of ethnic mobilisation and personal attacks.
“In the 21st century Kenya, democracy has to be about persuasion, respect for one another and canvassing policy alternatives,” he stated.
“It cannot be about useless, dangerous ethnic chauvinism that recklessly pits sections of our country against the others. Respect the people and their leaders.”
His comments followed remarks by his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, who accused Governor Anne Waiguru and Kirinyaga legislators of betraying the Mt. Kenya community. Gachagua insisted that the leaders had “sold out” their people to President William Ruto.
During a rally in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday, Gachagua also dismissed demonstrations held a day earlier in support of Governors Waiguru and Cecily Mbarire.
“Wewe governor and MPs ya Kirinyaga, nyinyi ndiyo adui kubwa ya watu wa Mwea na Kirinyaga. You are the enemies of Kirinyaga and our people,” Gachagua said.
