Kalonzo and Gachagua Unite to Slam Ruto Over Gideon Moi Alliance
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua threw a jibe at President William Ruto after his new political partnership with KANU Chairman Gideon Moi.
During a church service at the Ambassadors of Christ Church in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, Kalonzo criticized Ruto for deepening political polarisation, saying the President was putting politics ahead of national development.
Kalonzo told Ruto to keep Gideon Moi out of his political game. But he advised Moi to take any government position he was to be appointed to, but quit Ruto’s government before the 2027 General Election.
“We will reach out to William Ruto himself and tell him wachana na kusumbua Gideon Moi na Gideon Moi hata ukipatiwa hiyo kazi, we chukua fanya kazi na uchaguzi ikifika wachana na William Ruto aroast alone because he has committed economic crimes,” he declared.
Kalonzo’s remarks came just two days after President Ruto and KANU Chairman Gideon Moi officially sealed their political alliance at State House on October 10, 2025.
Under the arrangement, Moi entered the Kenya Kwanza government and abandoned his senatorial aspiration for the Baringo seat. Kalonzo denounced the action as a diversion from pressing matters of national concern as well as a masterfully executed political move in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua backed Kalonzo’s sentiments, accusing President Ruto of hypocrisy in his political dealings.
“Ruto ameita Gideon Moi, wameongea, na akasema anaunganisha watu wake huko nyumbani ndio apate amani na hataki sisi tuwe na amani hapa Mlima Kenya. Yeye akiunganisha watu wake anasema ni umoja wa kitaifa, nikiunganisha watu hapa anasema ni ukabila,” Gachagua said.
He pledged to safeguard Mount Kenya’s unity, assuring that political ambitions would not divide the region. Gachagua also threatened to initiate a campaign naming and shaming leaders who he deemed traitors to the mountain region.
“Kazi yangu inaanza kutoka saa hizi, nitakuwa nikizunguka hii Mlima Kenya kutangaza wasaliti wa mlima hata kama wewe ni mwanamke tutakutangaza,” he added.
