Nigerian Afrobeats queen, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about her parenting style, emphasising that her primary goal is to raise her son, Jamil, to be a kind and respectful man.
In a recent interview with content creator Eniola Olanrewaju, popularly known as Korty EO, the ‘Somebody’s Son’ crooner revealed that while she understands her 10-year-old son will make mistakes as he grows, ensuring he develops a kind heart remains her core focus.
“It’s very important for me to just make sure he’s a good man. He’s gonna make mistakes, he’s not perfect. At the core of him, I want him to be kind,” Savage said during the candid conversation.
The singer, who had Jamil with her ex-husband Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun, also disclosed that she constantly emphasises the importance of treating women with respect.
“I always tell him, your mom suffer o, make sure you treat any girl like a queen,” she stated, adding that this is a consistent message she reinforces with her son.
When asked about his future aspirations, Jamil revealed that he wants to become a professional footballer, marking a shift from his childhood dream of being a gamer.
“At first, when I was four, I wanted to be a gamer. Now, I want to be a footballer,” the 10-year-old said.
He also confessed that while he doesn’t actively listen to his mother’s music, he hears it when “she’s playing it in the shower,” preferring instead to listen to Michael Jackson and Kendrick Lamar.
