THREE violent incidents over the weekend in Windhoek and Tsumeb resulted in two deaths and one serious injury, according to the Weekend Serious Incidents Report issued by the Namibian Police.
In Wanaheda, at approximately 00:42 in the Goreangab Dam location, Windhoek, Jovani Willen Oxurub was allegedly stabbed on the left side of the neck with an Okapi knife. He was later declared dead upon arrival at Katutura State Hospital. Police reports indicate that an argument broke out between the suspect and the deceased after the suspect allegedly touched the deceased’s girlfriend inappropriately. The suspect has been arrested, and next of kin have been informed. Investigations are ongoing.
At around 20:00 at the Kuvukiland location in Tsumeb, Nomtsoub, a 25-year-old female, allegedly stabbed a 28-year-old woman three times in the chest with a kitchen knife, resulting in serious injuries. It is reported that the suspect found her boyfriend with the victim at the time of the attack. The suspect has been arrested, and police investigations are continuing.
Another incident in Tsumeb occurred at approximately 03:30 at Mzanzi Lounge in Nomtsoub, where Tangeni Erastus Haifidi (30) was allegedly stabbed once on the right back shoulder with an unknown sharp object during a quarrel that escalated into a fight. He was declared dead upon arrival at Tsumeb Hospital. The suspect has not yet been arrested, and next of kin have been informed. Police investigations are ongoing.
