A 55-YEAR-OLD resident of Ongwediva, whose Toyota Corolla was stolen early Saturday morning, has managed to get his car back after a wild chase, which also culminated in the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect.
According to the police’s weekend crime report, the white car was parked outside the yard of a house in Sky Phase 1, Ongwediva, on Friday evening after it ran out of fuel.
However, three suspects — who clearly knew that the car had run out of fuel — arrived at around 03:30 with a container of fuel, filled up the tank and drove the car away.
It is alleged that the owner of the house woke up when the vehicle was started and alerted other people in the house, who then drove after the stolen vehicle until the three suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot.
However, one of them was arrested and the car was recovered.
