JUBA, The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces have recaptured Yuai Barracks and the Pathai Military Outpost following coordinated military operations, the army said in a statement, Jan. 28, 2026.
SSPDF spokesperson Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said the operations were conducted under the command of Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Paul Nang Majok, Ph.D. Yuai Barracks was secured at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, while the Pathai Military Outpost was recaptured at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27.
The SSPDF command praised its forces for what it described as professionalism and efficiency in restoring control over the affected military positions.
Further details on casualties and equipment losses will be released after verification, according to the statement.
