The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission has revoked the registration certificate of the Twic East Community Association (TECA) for violating the NGO Act, 2016, according to an official statement obtained by Thejubamirror News Desk,
In the statement, the Office of the Chief Registrar of NGOs said TECA was registered on Feb. 19, 2021, as a non-profit and non-political association under the NGO Act, 2016.
However, the registrar said a resolution passed by TECA on Oct. 11, 2025, titled “Withdraw confidence in Hon. Deng Dau Deng Malek, MP for Twic East,” was political in nature and inconsistent with the association’s humanitarian mandate.
“Based on the resolution, the activities of the association are more political than humanitarian, which constitutes a violation of the NGO Act, 2016,” the statement read.
As a result, the Office of the Chief Registrar of NGOs revoked TECA’s registration certificate with immediate effect from the date of the letter. The association was also instructed to hand over its registration certificate and constitution to the registrar’s office.
Thejubamirror News Desk attempted to contact TECA officials for comment, but efforts to reach the association members were unsuccessful.
