Medical charity MSF has been forced to evacuate its critical staff from Akobo County in Jonglei State as security conditions sharply deteriorate.
The organisation, also known as Doctors Without Borders, said the evacuation was carried out on Saturday following instructions from authorities and amid mounting tension in the area.
The decision comes as fighting between government forces and the SPLA-IO and their allies intensifies in neighbouring counties of Ayod, Uror, Nyirol and Duk. The clashes have escalated in recent weeks, spreading fear and instability across the region.
As a result of the violence, hundreds of households have been displaced, with many fleeing to parts of Duk and Twic East counties in search of safety.
MSF said it has now reduced its operations in Akobo County to the bare minimum, describing the move as deplorable given the overwhelming humanitarian needs in the area.
The charity said the latest evacuation follows a similar decision late last year, when it was forced to withdraw staff from Lankien town in Nyirol County due to insecurity.
MSF said it will continue to closely monitor the situation in Akobo County and will make further decisions on the continuation of healthcare services for people in need.
