THE Namibian Police are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a wanted suspect linked to a vehicle theft case in Windhoek, as well as a missing man last seen in Tsumeb earlier this month.
According to a police statement issued through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, the Motor Vehicle Theft Investigation Unit in Windhoek is searching for Mpho Mokhatu, a 30-year-old Namibian male who speaks Afrikaans and English. Mokhatu is wanted in connection with a theft of motor vehicle case (Windhoek CR 690/09/2025) and was last seen in Windhoek. Police said efforts by the investigating officer to locate him have so far been unsuccessful.

Anyone with information on Mokhatu’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Senior Inspector Honga on 081 669 8281, Detective Sergeant Kanime on 081 2918 989, or the nearest police station.
In a separate matter, police in the Oshikoto Region are also seeking assistance in locating a missing person, Lyamine Proffesser Mupano, a 42-year-old Namibian man who speaks Silozi, Oshiwambo and English. He was last seen on 5 January 2026 at around 13:00 at the Oscar Norich Soccer Stadium in Tsumeb.
Mupano is described as being about 1.75 metres tall, of slender build and dark complexion. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black long pants and a short-sleeved T-shirt. Police added that he is reported to be walking with difficulty. Efforts by family members to trace him have been unsuccessful.
