AN armed robbery and several housebreaking incidents were reported in different parts of the country over the weekend, with police investigations continuing in all cases, according to the weekend serious incidents report.
The most serious incident occurred in Klein Windhoek on Friday night, where suspects armed with a firearm, a panga and knives allegedly broke into a residence at Berghof Flats, Eros, at around 23:00. Police say the suspects held the victims at gunpoint, assaulted them and robbed them of cash and a mobile phone before fleeing the scene. No items were recovered and no arrests have been made.
Another incident on Friday in Ongwediva, a housebreaking was reported in the early hours at around 04:00 in the Omatando area. It is alleged that suspects broke a window to gain entry into a room where the complainant was sleeping and stole electrical appliances, food and clothing valued at N$54,000. Some of the stolen items were later recovered after being found hidden in an abandoned building, but no suspects have been arrested.
In a separate incident in Henties Bay early Saturday morning at around 02:15, suspects allegedly removed a bedroom window at a house in Waterberg Street, South Dune, to gain entry. A laptop, perfume and a Wi-Fi router were reportedly stolen, items valued at N$37,900. No arrests or recoveries have been recorded.
In Katutura, a housebreaking was reported on Friday evening at around 20:00, where suspects allegedly broke in. Police say the suspects cut through burglar bars using an unknown object and stole electrical cables valued at N$10,500. No recoveries or arrests were made.
Police investigations into all the incidents are ongoing.
