The Government of Upper Nile State has described the late Commissioner of Makal County, Michael Othow Bol, as a committed statesman. He died on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at a hospital in Juba.
Speaking to Eye Radio on Monday, Peter Ngwojo, the Minister of Information in Upper Nile State, described Othow’s passing as unfortunate for Makal County and the entire Upper Nile State.
He said Othow was a respected and prominent leader of the Makal community and Lilo Payam.
“This is very unfortunate for his family and the people of Makal County. On behalf of the government of Upper Nile State, we extend our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Michael Othow was truly a statesman, committed and cooperative with all organs of the government of Upper Nile State,” he said.
Minister Ngwojo extended the government’s condolences to the late commissioner’s family, friends, and colleagues.
According to the minister, Commissioner Othow had been receiving treatment for nearly three months for diabetes, with his condition worsening in the last two days before his death.
He said the body of the late commissioner is expected to be taken to Malakal within the next two days, where an official burial will be held in his hometown.
Late Othow was appointed as commissioner of Makal County in June 2025.
He hailed from Abudiang Village, Lilo Payam of Makal County.
