ODM Praises Broad-Based Arrangement With UDA After By-Election Successes
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has called for the full implementation of the 10-point agenda agreed upon by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, urging authorities to address all issues before the 2027 General Elections.
Dr. Oburu made the remarks at Chungwa House following a meeting with newly elected ODM MPs, stressing the need to resolve key matters identified by the two leaders as “thorny.”
He also lauded the party’s performance in the recent by-elections, describing the outcome as a victory for the strategic broad-based arrangement between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“We are congratulating our members of parliament, those elect who have succeeded in the just-ended by-elections and we are also welcoming those who participated but did not win. This is to congratulate all our people of the ODM community,” Dr. Oburu said.
“We are very happy and proud because where we fielded our candidates for parliamentary seats, we succeeded in all of them. Where our partners, the UDA, also fielded candidates, they succeeded as well. This broad-based arrangement succeeded in all the parliamentary seats that were up for grabs.”
Accompanied by ODM deputy leaders Abdulswamad Nasir, Godfrey Osotsi, and Simba Arati, Dr. Oburu emphasized that the party must remain active, vigilant, and focused on its mission.
“This is not a time for us to sleep; this is a time for us to work, deliver, and strengthen our party. ODM must remain strong. It is a national party, not a party for any particular area, but a party for the unity of Kenya and for the future of the country,” he said.
Highlighting the youthful makeup of the newly elected MPs, Dr. Oburu stressed generational continuity within the party.
“The people who have been elected here are Gen Zs like me. Our party must remain strong, and members of ODM should be proud. If we don’t work hard to make our party strong, we risk being taken for granted. We are a party with a mission, and we cannot fail to work for our people,” he added.
Dr. Oburu concluded by reiterating the significance of the 10-point agenda, calling for its full execution.
“We are in a broad-based arrangement where we have a 10-point agenda which we want to see implemented fully before the 2027 elections. This is what we stand for.”
