Versatile Stormers back Wandisile Simelane has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Cape Town until at least 2028.
Simelane, a midfielder who can also slot in at fullback, joined the Stormers in early 2024 from the Bulls. He started his professional career at the Lions.
Stormers director of rugby John Dobson said Simelane’s game had developed well over the last two years.
“Wandi’s growth since joining us has been phenomenal. He is a naturally gifted athlete and footballer, but what has impressed us the most is the way he has applied himself to improve all areas of his game.
“He is surrounded by many talented players in our backline and has made some telling contributions within our environment both on the field and in our preparations. We are looking forward to seeing where he can go from here,” Dobson said in a statement.
Simelane, who played for the Junior Springboks in 2017-18, said the Stormers environment suited his game.
“There are plenty of top players in this squad and the overall environment has challenged me while also allowing me to express myself.
“I’ve got no doubt that this is the best place for me and I just want to do everything I can to help the club succeed,” he said.
