South Sudan’s communications regulator has established a new oversight body to manage the country’s international gateway services and national data center.
The Director General of the National Communication Authority, Rizig Dominic Samuel, today chaired a meeting with MGI Communications AG to formally constitute the Gateway Services and Data Center Oversight Committee.
The committee is responsible for strengthening governance, accountability, and institutional control over gateway services and the national data center.
Its priorities include digitizing revenue streams from the South Sudan International Gateway, modernizing infrastructure to support digital systems, and ensuring operations comply with national sovereignty and security requirements.
The National Communication Authority says enhanced regulatory oversight and digital revenue collection will ensure national communication resources contribute to economic development and technological self-reliance.
MGI Communications AG is a Swiss-based international telecommunications firm that manages South Sudan’s international gateway services and critical data center infrastructure.
The company is currently focused on digitizing national revenue systems, upgrading gateway technology, and expanding digital access in underserved areas across the country.
