NAMIBIA has done it again! The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) has announced that the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) has been selected as the winner in the WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards 2025, under the Innovative Investment Promotion Campaign category.
Catherine Shipushu, communications officer within the NIPDB, said that the prestigious recognition was conferred during the awards ceremony on the margins of the WAIPA World Investment Conference, hosted in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, recently.
“The WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards 2025 recognise the evolving and strategic role of Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) across the full investment lifecycle, from promotion and facilitation to aftercare and advocacy,” Shipushu said.

She added that the NIPDB was recognised for its exemplary work in promoting green hydrogen as an emerging sector for investment in Namibia.
“The award category recognises the execution of strategic coordination of a targeted approach to attract investment in a specific sector, which includes the development of promotional materials, identification of potential investors, facilitation of investor visits, and effectiveness in investor engagement. The NIPDB is honoured to receive this award on behalf of Namibia, and we extend our sincere gratitude to all our stakeholders across both the public and private sectors. This achievement would not have been possible without their continued support and collaboration,” Shipushu said.
She concluded that the award further affirms the global recognition of the NIPDB’s effectiveness as an IPA, underscoring the agency’s agility and innovative approach to investment facilitation and promotion. In 2023, the NIPDB won the award for Best FDI Project for the Kelp Blue project in the Investment Awards, hosted on the margins of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM).
Furthermore, the NIPDB was named runner-up in the 2024 World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) Awards, under the category Best Initiative to Ensure that Trade is Inclusive and Sustainable.
