MP Kibagendi Denies Alleged iPhone and Java House Property Damage
Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi appeared at the Narok Law Courts on Wednesday facing charges of assault and malicious damage to property.
According to charge sheets, the incident occurred on November 27, 2025, at around 8:00 a.m. in Kisii Township, where Kibagendi allegedly assaulted Astarico Omariba Moriasi, causing actual bodily harm.
The charges also indicate that property, including an iPhone Pro Max valued at Ksh230,000 belonging to Moriasi, was willfully damaged during the incident. Additionally, four plates and a cup worth approximately Ksh20,000 were reportedly damaged at a Java House outlet.
Kibagendi appeared before Resident Magistrate Esther Mwikali and denied all the charges. The court released him on a Ksh200,000 bond or Ksh100,000 cash bail, pending further proceedings.
Kibagendi was represented by Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, who described the arrest as politically motivated.
Former Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ongera, who attended the hearing, defended the MP, calling him a promising young leader and urging authorities to stop suppressing emerging political figures.
The court scheduled the matter for mention on February 2, 2026, to review case progress and provide further directions.
