Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, a member of the House of Representatives for Ajingi/Albasu, Gaya Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
In a letter dated 23rd January 2026, Tijjani, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics & Privileges, cited “lingering political and legal crisis and uncertainty affecting the New Nigeria People’s Party” as the reason for his resignation.
He requested that his party membership number (NNPP/HQ/KN/ABS/003) be noted for reference.
DAILY POST reports that this development comes shortly after two other Kano lawmakers, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe of Tofa/Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency and Idris Dankawu of Kumbotso Federal Constituency, resigned from the NNPP on Friday, 22nd January 2026.
The wave of resignations follows the official departure of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the NNPP on Friday, signaling a major shift in Kano State’s political landscape.
