A MALE pedestrian who was run over by a truck on the B2 road, approximately 36 kilometres from Karibib towards Okahandja, a week ago has finally been identified by family members as Benjamin Dewayine Buruxa Geingob, a 25-year-old Namibian man.
The culpable homicide incident occurred on Monday, 19 January 2026, at about 23h35. However, police could not identify the victim at the time as he had no identity documents on him. Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula stated that the victim was finally identified by his family members on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, at the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary.
“According to the deceased’s mother, he was staying at the family house in Karibib town (Rainbow Village), while the mother and other relatives stay in the location. It is alleged that on Saturday, 24 January 2026, the mother became worried as it was unusual that her son had not visited them in recent days. She was prompted to send someone to check on him, but he was not found at home,” Shomongula said.
She added that on Monday, 26 January 2026, the deceased’s mother and relatives went to check whether he had returned home, but they found the back door and windows of the house open, and he could not be seen anywhere in the area.
“They then decided to file a missing person report at Karibib Police Station. Upon providing a photograph, police found that it resembled the deceased person who was involved in a car accident. The family was therefore advised to visit the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for verification. Sadly, the family positively identified him. Police extend their heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family and friends. Investigations in the matter are ongoing,” Shomongula concluded.
