ESTER Yolanda Wilson is a 49-year-old resident of Omaruru, and she is selling a light blue second-hand Toyota pick-up.
She circulated her ID card on social media as proof of her good faith. She even roped in the help of police Sergeant Tomas Shilongo of the Omaruru Police Station to confirm that she is, indeed, selling a vehicle. There is only one big problem: it is all a scam.
A former NBC producer, Hangula Pohamba, who showed interest in buying the vehicle, contacted the vehicle seller and requested that she go to the nearest (Omaruru) police station.
A certain Sergeant Tomas Shilongo then confirmed to Pohamba, telephonically, that Ester was indeed selling a Toyota bakkie, adding: “as you already know, Whites are trustworthy”.
However, as Pohamba continued to doubt the veracity of the sale, it became clear that he was dealing with scammers. Ester is probably not a White woman, and a Home Affairs official has confirmed that her ID is fake.
Informanté did establish that there is no Sergeant Tomas Shilongo at the Omaruru Police Station and his number (0818092356) is either switched off or outside network coverage.
