On Friday, the 26 September 2025, my daughter Josephina Atoc Francis was allegedly reported to have drowned in the swimming pool of the Imperial Plaza Juba at around 10:00 AM. Yet I was only informed in the late afternoon hours later
. The Hotel then took her body on their own to the funeral home on Bilpam Road without any legal procedures and without informing our family. No mother deserves to be treated this way. No family deserves such cruelty and disrespect.
Soon after, medical investigations confirmed that my daughter did not drown there was an act of homicide
. A crucial CCTV footage recovered from Habesha Hotel led to the identification of the four culprits, who are now in prison awaiting the ongoing legal process
. This truth alone exposes the lies that were told and the attempts to cover up what truly happened to my child.
Yet despite all this, Imperial Plaza continues its business advertisements as if nothing happened as if a life was not stolen within their premises. Instead of closing to allow proper investigations, the Hotel has chosen arrogance over responsibility.
Their behavior makes them partners in the death of my daughter. And still, they attempt to intimidate people including the Public Prosecution claiming that the Hotel “cannot be closed” because it is allegedly owned by a powerful person. But no one is above the law, and no one has the right to silence a grieving mother.
They think my family is vulnerable because my husband; Col. Francis Chol Lang, is no longer with us. But for the last fifteen years, I have been both a mother and a father. I could not save the life of my daughter, but I will not fail her in death. I will not be intimidated. I will not be silent. I will seek justice to the very end.
If Imperial Plaza and Habesha Hotel are too powerful to be subjected to law, the least Imperial Plaza can do is stop all advertisements on SSBC and other media outlets until investigations
