Gloria Orwoba: Ruto in Trouble in 2027 Without Raila Odinga
Former Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has claimed that President William Ruto will face an uphill battle in the 2027 General Election without the political influence and support of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking on TV47’s Morning Café show on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Orwoba said Raila’s death was not only a major loss to the country but also a serious political setback for President Ruto.
“Ruto was sad because he knows that without Raila, he’s in trouble in the 2027 elections,” Orwoba stated.
The outspoken former senator accused President Ruto of hypocrisy, alleging that he played a key role in Raila’s state funeral despite previously being one of his fiercest critics.
“The biggest abuser of Raila is Ruto, yet he was the one at the forefront of conducting his state funeral,” she said.
Orwoba also weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding remarks by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who had faulted Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and declared him unwelcome to mourn with the Odinga family.
She condemned Wanga’s comments as disrespectful and misplaced, saying no one other than the Odinga family had the authority to decide who could or could not attend the funeral.
“It was shameful for Gladys Wanga to make such statements because only the family has the right to stop anyone from visiting their home,” Orwoba said.
