
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, Engineer Olabode Jones Ajimijere, has enjoined Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the commissioner of police in the state and other heads of security agencies to ensure the release of the abducted Ilaje prince, Emorioloye Owolemi.
Ajimijere made the call in a letter addressed to Aiyedatiwa and heads of security agencies in the state.
The letter was obtained by DAILY POST on Sunday.
DAILY POST gathered that Owolemi, an activist who doubles as Publicity Secretary of Ilaje Leadership Forum, was forcefully taken away by yet to be identified gunmen at his residence in Ilaje on Thursday.
Our correspondent learnt that the victim has not been released as at the time of filing this report on Sunday.
Ajimijere in the letter addressed to the governor and heads of security agencies, described the development as disturbing.
He described the abduction of the victim as a threat to public safety.
The APC chieftain, while condemning the act, appealed to Aiyedatiwa to take immediate steps to ensure the safe and unconditional release of the Ilaje prince.
He also enjoined the commissioner of police and heads of other security agencies to act fast.
Ajimijere said, “The protection of lives and property must remain a top priority of government and security institutions.
“I also urged the Commissioner of Police, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, and other relevant security agencies to intensify coordinated efforts to rescue Prince Owolemi and apprehend those responsible.
“The need for decisive action to curb criminal activities and restore public confidence in the state’s security architecture”.
