HENDRINA Ponhofi Dilaadileni Kambudu, a Community Liaison Officer at the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Child Welfare in Eenhana, Ohangwena Region, was arrested after siphoning funds aimed at supporting vulnerable community members for her own use.
According to Marina Matundu, ACC’s spokesperson, Kambudu used the name of her cousin, and secured funding for a Hammer Mill Machine through the Income Generating Activities (IGA’s) programme during 2007/2008.
The Hammer Mill was valued at N$31,500.00.
Matundu said that the accused then used the hammer mill and established a milling business at Onangolo Village in the Epembe Constituency of Ohangwena Region for her own benefit.
“Mrs Kambudu’s dealings were discovered during 2018 when her cousin applied for funding through the Income Generating Activities (IGA’s) programme of the same Ministry at Epembe Constituency, where she was informed that she had already been funded with a hammer mill machine during 2007/8,” Matundu said.
She added that Kambudu was arrested in Eenhana, Ohangwena Region, on 19 January 2026 and she was charged with contravention of section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2003 (Act No. 08 of 2003): corruptly using (abusing) office or position for gratification.
Kambudu appeared in the Eenhana Magistrate Court and was granted bail of N$10,000.00. Her case was postponed to 9 March 2026 for legal representation and fixing of trial dates.
“The Anti-Corruption Commission reiterates its commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within public institutions. Corruption undermines good governance and service delivery. The Commission remains steadfast in investigating and ensuring that those involved in corrupt activities are held accountable under the law,” Matundu said.
