The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, has deployed additional heavily armed officers to the troubled areas.
This, the CP said, is to control the renewed communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri declared a 24-hour curfew in the affected areas.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that violent attacks began in Lamurde on Sunday night.
“Adamawa State Police Command wishes to advise members of the public, particularly those within Lamurde LGA, to respectfully comply with such order and stay indoors in order to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankwambo Morris, has deployed more operational assets of the command to the areas, to monitor compliance and enforce the curfew using all legal means.”
The statement added, “The command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, while respecting the rights of the citizens, equally enjoys them to avoid all forms of action capable of threatening the security in the area.”
SP Nguroje warned that the command will not allow miscreants and misguided elements to operate unchallenged.
He also urged all security agencies deployed to Lamurde to strictly operate within the law.
