The newly donated flood warning signs will be installed in strategic low-lying areas to alert residents during heavy rains, while the awareness billboards will promote fire and flood prevention and safety practices.
Mayor Larandja commended Santam Namibia for its continued partnership, saying, “Today’s occasion symbolises not only a partnership between institutions but also a shared commitment to protecting lives, property, and livelihoods.”
She urged residents to take collective responsibility for community safety and to safeguard the newly installed signs from vandalism. “Disaster risk reduction is not only the responsibility of the City of Windhoek or the government — it is a shared duty for all of us,” she said.
The Mayor emphasised that through awareness, preparedness, and partnership, Windhoek can build a safer and more resilient future for all its residents.
