The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has raised the alarm over the activities of what it described as “paid agents” allegedly bent on destabilising the party.
The party’s State Chairman, Hassan Haruna, made this known on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting and vote of confidence on the national and state leadership in Bauchi.
Haruna expressed satisfaction with the performance of the party’s leadership at the national, North-East zonal, state, local government, and ward levels, commending their commitment and dedication to strengthening the party.
He said sustained unity and hard work would position the ADC to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
“We respectfully call the attention of the National Leadership of the ADC to continue operating strictly in line with the party’s constitution and to remain vigilant against the activities of certain individuals whose actions are capable of creating confusion, division or instability within the party. Such actions are inconsistent with the values and objectives of the ADC,” he said.
Also speaking, the State Deputy Publicity Secretary, Harsanu Guyaba, said Nigerians had placed genuine hope in the ADC as a credible platform capable of rescuing the country from its current challenges.
According to him, this hope must be protected through unity, discipline, and strict adherence to party rules and structures.
Guyaba commended a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Lawal Babachir, for what he described as his strong leadership and strategic role in harmonising and strengthening the ADC structures across the North-East.
“The people of Bauchi State sincerely appreciate Babachir Lawal for his guidance and political expertise in building solid party structures from the ward to the state level across the zone,” he said.
He added that the ADC in Bauchi had successfully established functional structures in all wards and local government areas, demonstrating its readiness for effective democratic participation.
The party spokesman also urged the national leadership to closely monitor individuals allegedly moving between political parties without clear direction, warning that such actions could undermine party cohesion and discipline.
He called on Nigerians seeking credible leadership, good governance, and national renewal to join the ADC at all levels, stressing that a united and people-oriented party was key to achieving electoral success in the future.
