Serie A side Atalanta have lowered their asking price for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from €50m to €35m, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Lookman’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since last summer, when he expressed a desire to join domestic rivals Inter Milan.
Atalanta had insisted on a €50m release clause for their talisman and blocked the move, citing an initial agreement with the player that ruled out a transfer to another Serie A club.
With his former club Everton and several other European sides still monitoring his situation, Atalanta have now reduced their valuation to €35m, according to transfer specialist Ekrem Konur.
While the player’s club form this season may have contributed to the price reduction, his performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco—where he scored three goals and provided four assists for Nigeria—underlined his continued quality and threat to opponents.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of Lookman and are considering a move for the versatile forward. However, the Spanish club are yet to make formal contact with either Atalanta or the player’s representatives.
Turkish champions Galatasaray have also been making efforts to secure the Nigerian’s services, but no concrete agreement has been reached. This is despite confirmation from his compatriot and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, that he has discussed the prospect of a move with Lookman.
Despite Atalanta’s reluctance to sell to Serie A rivals, reigning champions Napoli have intensified talks with the Bergamo-based club as they look to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
PUNCH Sports Extra previously reported that Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa all declined the opportunity to sign the player, despite Atalanta’s openness to negotiations.
With approximately 18 months remaining on his current contract, Atalanta are weighing the option of selling Lookman at a reasonable fee or risking the possibility of losing one of their star performers on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old forward has been a consistent performer for the Bergamo-based side, recording 55 goals and 27 assists in 136 appearances. He rose to prominence in May 2024, when his hat-trick powered Atalanta to their first UEFA Europa League title.
