The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, Rev. Aminu Ayuka, has appealed to Governor Uba Sani to immediately take steps to address the lingering kidnapping ongoing in Chikun and Kajuru local government areas in the state.
Speaking to DAILY POST in Kaduna on Tuesday, he said that during the raining season, people were forced by bandits to cultivate their farmlands, stressing that the locals are also being forced by the bandits to harvest crops and hand them over.
He, however, noted that since the inception of the present administration in the state, kidnapping has drastically reduced but lamented that this year, banditry has resurfaced again.
Speaking on the designation of the country by the President of America as a “Country of Particular Concern”, Ayuka said he supports the idea, noting that many areas including Chikun and Kajuru local government areas have for years suffered untold hardship in the hands of bandits resulting in many losing their lives, houses burnt, property destroyed and millions of naira being paid as ransom.
“I strongly support the coming of the Americans to help us arrest what many Christians have suffered at the hands of the terrorists resulting in the killings of many of our brothers, sisters and children for no just cause. I also believe
the coming of the Americans will benefit other Nigerians so that we all come out of the mess we have found ourselves for years without any solution to it.
“We the Christians will continue to cry out if the killings of our beloved ones continue. We are praying that all Nigerians will one day come out of this barbaric treatment of man to man. We are also praying for God’s wisdom upon our leaders for a way out of the present challenges the country is going through.
“As a church, CAN will continue to fight for justice, peace, unity and inclusiveness in all spheres of life in this great country, Nigeria, so that together we shall unite and fight for anything that is not beneficial to all Nigerians.”
