The 20-year-old was schooled at Bishops in Cape Town and represented Western Province at the Craven Week. He joined the Lions last year.
He was a star for the Junior Springboks in their victorious World Rugby U20 Championship campaign in 2025, scooping the Player of the Tournament accolade.
Afterwards, Pead was invited to train with the Springboks and he also made his Currie Cup debut for the Lions.
He recently made his mark in the URC when he scored the match-winning try for the Lions against the Sharks in Durban.
Pead’s signing is the latest in a promising list for the Lions. Loosehead prop SJ Kotze, along with Springboks Ruan Venter, Quan Horn and Morne van den Berg, all committed to the union earlier this month.
The Lions last year also signed Pead’s Junior Springbok team-mate, loose forward Batho Hlekani, from the Sharks.
Like Pead, Hlekani was also invited to train with the Boks last year.
