The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has warned airline operators against overloading aircraft and violating aviation regulations.
The warning was issued in a circular circulated on Friday.
The circular, signed by Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng, Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, said the directive aims to strengthen aviation safety and ensure strict compliance with regulations.
The authority said it has observed cases where some airline operators were conducting flights with aircraft loads exceeding approved weight and balance limits.
It said such practices pose serious safety risks and violate national, regional, and international aviation regulations.
The civil aviation authority directed operators using aircraft types including Cessna Caravan C two-zero-eight, Fokker fifty, Antonov A-N seventy-two, and A-T-R seventy-two to ensure that all flights operate strictly within certified weight and balance limits approved by the manufacturer and the civil aviation authority.
It further warned that any operator found violating these requirements, including aircraft overloading, will face penalties.
The measures include withdrawal of the Airline Operating Permit, suspension, or revocation of the operator’s licence by the civil aviation authority.
