The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has discussed a proposal to resume the electronic tax, or e-tax, system to improve revenue collection and financial accountability.
The proposal was presented on Thursday by the State Ministry of Finance, Planning and Investment during the Council’s sitting, following a security briefing.
Speaking after the meeting, State Minister of Information Nyarsuk Patrick said the memo seeks to reintroduce the e-tax system at the state level to boost revenue, attract investment, and promote transparency in public financial management.
He said the digital system is expected to improve the management of state resources and enhance service delivery to the public.
Nyarsuk added that the Council of Ministers welcomed the proposal and made several inputs and amendments after deliberations.
He said the memo has been referred back to the State Ministry of Finance, Planning and Investment to incorporate the recommendations before it is returned to the Council for further discussion and final approval.
