THE City of Windhoek (CoW) has announced that water supply in some parts of the city will only be restored by midday due to low reservoir levels.
This follows a nearly two-day water outage in parts of Windhoek, specifically Northern Industrial and Katutura, caused by a damaged pipeline.
City of Windhoek spokesperson Lydia Amutenya confirmed that the 600 mm bulk water supply pipeline was successfully repaired on Wednesday night, but said water supply would return gradually throughout the day today.
“Due to the extent of the repair works, reservoir levels were significantly low at the time of completion. Since then, efforts have been focused on refilling the pipelines and restoring reservoir levels. Given the magnitude of the pipeline, the restoration of water supply is gradual. Some parts of the affected areas are already receiving water, while full supply to all areas is expected to be restored later this morning as reservoir levels continue to stabilise,” Amutenya said.
