Rumbek, The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO Congratulates newly appointed Governor of Lakes State H.E. Major General Madhang Majok Meen, and urges his government to sets priorities that will contribute towards peaceful Lakes State. The top priorities should focus on Security and Stability within Lakes state and neighboring communities. We requested the governor to organize an inclusive conference that will engage all stakeholders to review 2021 Juba and Rumbek resolutions, there is a need to establish a secure environment to prevent violence and protect civilians, particularly in areas like Rumbek North, Yirol East, Cueibet, and in all Counties of the State.
It’s right time to release the Deputy Governor Hon. Dr. Isaiah Akol and Hon. Gai Magok, the minister of Animal resources, and all that has been unlawfully detained in military detention facilities across Lakes State.
The government need to encourage developmental and peace programs that will engage communities toward reconciliation, unity and peaceful dialogues among communities in order to address underlying tensions and conflicts, often fueled by resource competition and ethnic divisions. Your leadership should put more focus on Economic Development, promote economic growth, agricultural development, and infrastructure projects to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty. We encourage the state government to ensure inclusive and effective governance, respect to human rights, and rule of law, transparency and accountability in order to build trust and ensure effective service delivery to the people of Lakes state. We thanks former Governor Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor for his dedicated services and being credited by citizens to have transformed Lakes State from one of the most troubled areas in South Sudan to a relatively peaceful state through community’s accepted iron-fist policy against inter-communal violence.
