‘Mt Kenya Is Safer With Ruto’: Kabogo Slams Gachagua Over ‘Revenge Politics’
Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of lacking a clear development agenda and promoting what he termed as “politics of revenge” against the Kenya Kwanza government.
Kabogo made the remarks during a public engagement forum held at Kianwe Primary School in Ndia, Kirinyaga West, where he told residents that the Mt Kenya region was already reaping tangible benefits under President William Ruto’s administration. He cautioned that divisive political narratives could derail ongoing development gains.
Kabogo Rejects ‘One-Term’ Narrative
The ICT CS dismissed Gachagua’s push for a “one-term presidency” as reckless and harmful, arguing that it undermines stability and progress. Kabogo insisted that President Ruto had demonstrated clear leadership, a solid development vision, and a genuine commitment to uplifting Mt Kenya and the rest of the country.
“Mt. Kenya is safer and better in the hands of President Ruto. Gachagua has no plan for this country. What he is pushing is not leadership; it is revenge politics,” Kabogo stated.
He urged residents to assess leadership based on results rather than emotions or personal vendettas.
Government Projects Driving Growth
Kabogo highlighted several infrastructure and social projects currently being implemented by the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying they reflected a government focused on delivery. Among them is the expansion of the Nairobi–Thika Expressway, which he said will significantly ease traffic congestion and boost trade and economic activity across the region.
He also defended the affordable housing programme, noting that it has created thousands of jobs for young people while giving ordinary Kenyans access to decent and affordable homes.
To demonstrate the real-life impact of government policies, Kabogo shared a personal encounter with a woman who sought his help after her landlord locked her out over unpaid rent.
“I spoke to PS Charles Hinga, and today that woman is living well in a decent house she can afford. That is the Kenya Kwanza difference,” he said.
Kabogo argued that such outcomes showed the administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods, particularly for vulnerable citizens.
Call to Reject Political Emotions
The CS firmly rejected calls for a single-term presidency, urging Mt Kenya residents not to abandon what he described as a working government because of political bitterness.
“We cannot chase darkness with darkness. Darkness is chased by light,” Kabogo remarked.
He encouraged voters to focus on continuity, stability, and development rather than divisive rhetoric.
Kabogo also praised the Nyota Programme, describing it as a transformative initiative aimed at empowering young people through access to business financing, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
Concluding his address, Kabogo called for unity among Mt Kenya leaders and residents, saying a united front would help the region maximize development benefits under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“Unity is how we benefit. Division will only take us backwards,” he stressed.
