NAIROBI, Kenya, Senior members of the South Sudan United Front/Army and the United People’s Alliance/Unified Forces announced their collective resignation from both organizations, citing political and organizational disagreements,
In a written statement, the group said it had ended its membership in the South Sudan United Front/Army, known as SSUF/A, and consequently the United People’s Alliance/Unified Forces, or UPA/UF, effective immediately. The members said the decision followed extensive internal consultations and careful deliberation.
“The prevailing political direction, organizational practices, and strategic posture of both SSUF/A and UPA/UF no longer align with our shared convictions or with our expectations for credible, necessary, and principled reform,” the statement said.
The group said the decision was not taken lightly but concluded that continued affiliation with the movements was no longer sustainable. Members acknowledged their time in the organizations and the professional relationships formed during their involvement.
They extended their best wishes to those who remain in the movements and expressed hope for their future success. The statement said any further political engagement would be communicated at a later time.
