- A teenage boy and a 20-year-old man were killed in separate shootings in Valhalla Park, Cape Town, on Wednesday.
- Police believe the shootings are gang-related.
- No arrests have yet been made.
A 16-year-old boy was one of two people who were shot dead while a woman was seriously wounded in what police suspect to be gang-related shootings in Valhalla Park, Cape Town, on Wednesday.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said police responded to a shooting just after 15:00 in 8th Avenue, where they found the teen boy with two gunshot wounds to his back.
Van Wyk said the teenager was declared deceased at the scene.
Police said that while the officers were still on the scene, they were informed of a 56-year-old woman who had been struck in the arm by a stray bullet during the same shooting.
She was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Van Wyk said Bishop Lavis police station opened cases of murder and attempted murder for further investigation.
Later on the same day, while police were still attending to the initial scene, officers were called to another shooting in Hilda Crescent, also in Valhalla Park.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man lying in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
“He was declared deceased at the scene, and a murder case was opened for investigation. Both shooting incidents are believed to be gang-related,” Van Wyk said.
Police said the suspects involved in the shootings have not yet been arrested.
Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Forum chairperson Graham Lindhorst said there is a gang turf war in the area.
Lindhorst said:
Information received is also that the shooting in Hilda Crescent was revenge on the Agste Laan fatal shooting.
The forum condemned the attacks and called on the community to come forward with any information that might bring those responsible to book.
“We call on police to do whatever it takes to stabilise the area as shootings are a daily occurrence, not only in Valhalla Park but in the precinct,” said Lindhorst.
Police have appealed to anyone with information related to the shootings to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
