The Minister of General Education and Instruction says the Ministry of Finance has approved funding for the marking of primary exam papers, which is expected to begin soon.
Speaking to journalists during the enrollment of student-teachers into Teacher Training Institutes this morning, Minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok said his delegation is meeting with the Central Bank today to facilitate the transaction process.
Kuyok said that once the funds are secured, the marking will start immediately to meet the February 2026 academic year commencement deadline.
“Marking for P8 especially, we’ll have to start as soon as possible….I’ve already spoken with the Minister of Finance and has given his approval for us to get money from the Central Bank so that we can start marking as soon as possible because the academic year is commencing on the 2nd of February and we don’t want to delay,” he said.
The minister also warned that evidence of malpractice found during the marking process will result in penalties, including the cancellation of results for a centre, individual candidates, or one or all subjects.
“If there is evidence of malpractice, consequences will happen. We can even cancel the centre, results of our entire centre. It can be cancelled, individual candidates or schools or in one subject or in all subjects, we will do that. We have done it before and there is something that will prevent us from doing it this year,” he asserted.
Recently, over 84,000 Primary Eight learners completed the Certificate of Primary Education examinations. This week, more than 45,000 secondary school candidates concluded their final secondary education exams.
