Kwara United midfielder Toheeb Gidado has described the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 16 victory over Niger Tornadoes as a morale booster.
The Harmony Boys defeated the Ikon Allah Boys 2-0 at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl Stadium in Ilorin on Sunday.
Babatunde Bright opened the scoring for Kwara United before the Niger Tornadoes defence failed to clear their backline, resulting in an own goal that gave the hosts the maximum points.
Gidado, who won the Man of the Match award, missed a glaring chance to increase the tally for the Ilorin-based side.
The victory ended Kwara United’s four-game winless run in the league.
“I’m pained that I couldn’t get on the score sheet. But these two goals by my teammates will definitely boost our scoring form going forward,” Gidado stated in a post-match interview.
