Chief Manga Kalla Quan Albert was crowned as the new chief of Bonabile, a seaside community at the Atlantic shores of Limbe. He was enthroned in typical coastal fashion on November 29, 2025.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Divisional Officer for Limbe III, Dr Ndofi Ngangeh Isidore, and the Mayor Nseke Luma, Member of Parliament for Fako East, Findi Stanley. The rites were performed by a college of Chiefs led by the Paramount of Limbe, HM Elufa Manga Williams.
Chief Kalla Quan takes over the throne formerly held by his brother, Chief Priso Quan. D.O Ngangeh, in his address at the event, reminded the new traditional ruler of his regalian duties. He urged him to ensure general interest is upheld, making his stool of reference to the people.
Chief Kalla Quan is expected to make for a more peaceful community through the presence of law-abiding vigilante groups. This is to complement moves to curtail drug consumption amongst the youths and the propagation of other vices. He was entrusted with the mandate to safeguard the land heritage of the people and the integrity of its sales.
Similarly, Dr Joki Manga, chair of the traditional council, called on the new Bonabile Chief to take a close study of the lands in the rich seaside community. He further called on the population to massively rally behind the new chief.
Manga Kalla Quan is an A2 retired civil servant at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. He holds a CAPES 1 from the National Institute of Youth and Sports. Kalla Quan has also had his day on prominent Cameroon teams like Stage de Melong, Fovu of Baham, amongst others.
