BOTH the driver and bodyguard of the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, died in a horrific accident barely 20 minutes after dropping him off at his residence in Windhoek.
Sankwasa confirmed the tragedy and said the two officials were great, responsible and diligent civil servants. According to the Weekend Serious Incidents Report issued by the Namibian Police, the incident occurred at around 19:50 at the intersection of Rocky Crest and Khomasdal traffic lights on Sam Nujoma Drive, Otjomuise.
According to police reports, a motor vehicle collided with the government (GRN) vehicle, causing the GRN vehicle to crash into an Amarok. The collision resulted in the instant deaths of Lukas Nangolo (50) and George Shiluwa (38).
Next of kin have been informed, and police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
