Former acting SA Football Association (SAFA) CEO Russell Paul has been granted R10 000 bail in the Palm Ridge Special Commercial Crime Court.
The Johannesburg-based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team arrested him on Wednesday morning after he handed himself over in connection with fraud allegations against SAFA boss Danny Jordaan.
Paul will return to court in November, where he will appear in the dock alongside Jordaan, SAFA chief financial officer Gronie Hluyo and journalist-turned-businessman Trevor Neethling.
The three are accused of defrauding SAFA of R1.3 million, which was allegedly used for Jordaan’s personal benefit.
The charges against Paul are related to a communications contract paid for by SAFA, but allegedly used to provide services to Jordaan in his personal capacity.
